BnuLab
BnuLab makes 3D-printed decor and everyday objects. I designed the whole brand identity and its guide, right down to the shipping tape.
The context
A brand that
was just a name
BnuLab's products were good, and so was the printing. The brand was just a name and nothing else. Without a brand, a piece reaches the customer looking like any other, and the conversation starts with price.
See it live
The challenge
Everyone shows
the printer
Almost every 3D printing brand shows the printer, a spool of filament and a technical part, so it's hard to see why you'd pick one over another. BnuLab had to break from that without losing its roots in Blumenau, Brazil, or its tech side. The symbol was going to be a capybara, and it had to say something about how the pieces are made without turning into a cartoon mascot.
What I did
A capybara
in layers
A 3D printer works by stacking one layer on top of another, and I built the mark on that. The symbol is a capybara's head sitting on a stack of layers, and you get the animal without anyone explaining it. For color, I paired solid neutrals with blue, green and lime yellow, and picked a typeface that holds up on boxes, labels, screens and uniforms.
The outcome
Luciano rolled
it out himself
I delivered the identity and its brand guide two weeks after the brief. From there, Luciano at BnuLab took the brand to Instagram, the shipping box and the yellow tape that seals it, caps, T-shirts and business cards, without needing me.

In one line
“For a 3D printing brand, even the symbol had to look printed. The capybara is built one layer at a time.”
